Carson Paul suffered a concussion in late 2020 when he slipped and fell down the stairs leading up to the platform. He returned to training in mid-January to continue his preparations for the season.
The son of Olympic rowing champion Terry Paul, a coxswain for the men’s eight in 1992, Paul started diving by age four and just kept at it to be come one of Canada’s top juniors. While he didn’t take up his father’s sport, his sister is now the rower in the family, he is always inspired by looking at his Dad’s gold from the Barcelona Games.
Carson Paul finds diving exciting and he says nothing gets his heart pounding like standing on the edge of the 10-metre platform.
Career highlights include a bronze medal in the 12-13 age group at the Pan Am Junior Championships in 2017, a silver on one-metre and bronze on platform at the 2019 Junior Nationals. Also in 2019 at the annual Dresden International Junior Meet, Paul collected a silver on platform.
