Matt Cullen competed at his first senior nationals in 2019 and at only age 13, and took seventh place in the men’s platform event. That same year, he earned two top-five finishes at the Junior Pan Ams in the 14-15 age group (he turned 14 that December).
What makes these results more incredible is that Cullen had returned from a broken arm, a double fracture in 2018 in a non-diving accident.
The high school student started diving at age six and has quickly risen among the junior ranks earning two silver medals at the 2019 Junior Nationals. He also travelled to several other competitions and national team training camps.
