About Matt Cullen
Matt Cullen, born on December 14, 2005, in Rosemère, Quebec, is a Canadian diver who has rapidly ascended the ranks in both national and international competitions. He began diving at age six and, by 13, competed in his first senior nationals in 2019, securing seventh place in the men’s platform event.
In 2022, Cullen achieved a significant milestone by winning gold in the boys’ 10m platform (16-18 age group) at the FINA World Junior Diving Championships held in Montreal. His performance was highlighted by high-scoring dives, including marks of 84.15 and 86.40 points, making him the only Canadian male diver to secure gold at the event.
Cullen’s journey has not been without challenges. In 2018, he suffered a double fracture in his arm due to a non-diving accident. Demonstrating resilience, he returned to the sport and continued to excel, earning two silver medals at the 2019 Junior Nationals.
Training with Club L’Envol under the guidance of his coach, Cullen has shown versatility by competing in both springboard and platform events. His dedication and achievements have established him as a promising talent in Canadian diving, with aspirations to represent Canada at the Olympic Games.
