Gagné began diving at the age of 5 after seeing older kids do somersaults at an outdoor public pool in Ville Mont-Royal. He set his sights on the Olympics when he watched Alexandre Despatie win his silver medal in the 3m at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Philippe Gagné finished 11th in the 3m individual event at his very first Olympics in Rio, in 2016. However, he is no stranger to international podiums, having climbed the podium three times at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, taking silver in the 10m and 3m synchro and the bronze in the 3m individual event. He added two Pan American Games medals to his collection in 2019, a bronze on 3m and a silver on 3m synchro.
Philippe also took home two medals from the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia: silver in both 3m and 3m synchro.
In school, his favourite subjects are math and physics and his dream is to become a software engineer, setting his sights on a career with Google.
