Bilbao: Canada’s Lysanne Richard wins high diving silver medal
Lysanne Richard of Montreal completed an outstanding season on the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series circuit this weekend with a silver medal performance on the women’s 21-metre event.
In 2019, Richard collected five medals in six events on the circuit, her other result a fourth-place finish. It’s quite a comeback for the 38-year-old mother of three who missed the entire 2017 season with a neck injury and part of this season as well including the FINA World Championships.
With the overall season title already clinched, Rhiannan Iffland of Australia finished the year unbeatable with another victory in Bilbao earning 327.60 points.
Richard finished 27 points behind in second place, while Jessica Macaulay of England completed the podium.
In the overall season positions, it was the reverse as the Brit finished ahead of Richard, with the Canadian securing third place for the second season running.
Richard earned two silver and three bronze on the circuit in 2019.
