Eight divers qualify for the 2023 World Aquatics Diving World Championships
May 30, 2023 – The diving team representing Canada at the World Aquatics 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, July 14-22, will consist of eight athletes. They qualified regarding their performances last weekend at the 2023 Summer Senior National Championships.
Qualified athletes:
– Pamela Ware (CAMO): 3 m/3m synchro/1 m
– Mia Vallée (CAMO): 3 m/3 m synchro/1 m
– Caeli McKay (Pointe-Claire Diving Club): 10 m/10 m synchro
– Elaena Dick (Saskatoon Diving Club): 10 m
– Kate Miller (TDA): 10 m synchro
– Nathan Zsombor-Murray (Pointe-Claire Diving Club): 10 m/10 m synchro
– Rylan Wiens (Saskatoon Diving Club): 10 m/10 m synchro
– Bryden Hattie (Boardworks): 3 m/ 1 m

The Fukuoka World Championships are important, as the first quota places for countries towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be at stake.
At the last edition of the World Championships, in Budapest in 2022, Canada won a total of three medals.
Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray won bronze in the 10 m synchro event, becoming the first men’s team to reach the podium in the platform event. Mia Vallée took silver in the 3 m event and bronze in the 1 m event. It was the first time that a woman had finished on the podium in two individual events at the same World Championships.
The Canadian team heading to Japan will be a mix of youth, experience and novelty. Kate Miller and Elaena Dick will be making their Senior World Championships debut in Fukuoka. For Olympian Pamela Ware, it will be a return to the World Championship team after missing out on the 2022 edition.
