Four Medals for Canada at the 66th International Divers Day in Germany
January 23, 2024 – Canada concluded the weekend at the 66th International Divers Day in Rostock, Germany, securing a total of four medals. Benjamin Tessier emerged as a standout performer, clinching the gold medal in the Men’s 10m event.
Unwavering, the Quebec athlete navigated through the preliminaries and semi-finals, claiming the 1st place in each step. He finished the day with a stellar performance in the final, earning him a score of 466.10 points.
In the Men’s 1m event, Tazman Abramowicz secured the bronze medal with a score of 342.10. The gold went to Britain’s Matthew Dixon (373.35 points), followed by Jordan Houlden (351.50) who claimed the silver medal. Abramowicz also participated in the Men’s 3m event, finishing 14th in the semi-finals.
Silver for Katelyn Fung on the Platform
The Women’s 10m event saw Katelyn Fung claim the silver medal with a score of 297.00. She was a little more than 10 points behind Netherlands athlete Else Praasterink, who secured the gold with a score of 308.80. Éloïse Bélanger also took part in the event, finishing 6th with a score of 275.40.
Aimee Wilson (Dive Calgary) and Margo Erlam (Saskatoon Diving Club) clinched the bronze medal in the Women’s 3m synchro event, finishing with a score of 273.90. Local representatives Jette Müller and Lena Hentschel took home the gold with 287.13 points, while Desharne Bent-Ashmeil and Amy Rollinson, also from Germany, secured silver with a score of 281.70.
Amélie-Laura Jasmin (CAMO) and Aimee Wilson represented the country in the Women’s 1m springboard event. Jasmin claimed the 5th position in the final with a score of 230.15, while Wilson took the 7th place with a score of 228.55.
Jasmin, from Quebec, participated in her very first senior international competition. She managed to stay calm and deal with the pressure to stay consistent.
In the Women’s 3m springboard competition, Aimee Wilson just missed the podium, taking the 4th place with 276.50 points. Amélie-Laura Jasmin closely followed in the 5th position with 276.40 points.
