Michelle McLeod sur la deuxième marche du podium à la plateforme!
British Columbia’s Michelle McLeod started the International Youth Diving Meet in Dresden, Germany, in fine fashion on Thursday. She took home the silver medal in the girls’ A platform in a very close battle.
« I am feeling very excited. I am just happy that I was able to do what I know I can do and put down a good and consistent list, » commented the White Rock Diving Club athlete.
The 390.00 points diver believes that the mindset she came into the competition with helped her get on the podium.
« I wasn’t as nervous as I normally am. I was just happy to be here and be able to show everyone what I’ve improved, » she explained.
The 17-year-old diver didn’t know where she stood in the standings during the competition. « I never look at the scoreboard. I don’t think it matters what anyone else around me is doing. I want to focus on what I’m doing. I knew I was in a good position, but I didn’t know how good, » she said with a laugh.
Her teammate, Juliette Boisvert (Envol) of Quebec, placed 4th with a score of 367.25.
On the men’s side, Olivier Gauthier (CAMO) just missed the podium in the 3m group A. The Quebecer took 4th place with 481.30 points. Noah Bernard (TDA) finished 9th with 461.70 points and Chris Booler (Pointe-Claire) 13th with a score of 429.20.
