Mission Viejo: Canada’s Elaena Dick reached final

Eleana Dick of Edmonton barely made the seminal in the morning but is now headed to the final on women’s 10-m tower at the FINA Grand Prix diving competition.
Dick was 12th in the preliminaries, the last qualifying spot for the semis, advancing by a mere 0.20 points. However, she added 36 points to her score in the semis to place second in her heat.
Veteran Melissa Wu of Australia was tops in the first semi heat with 287.40 points, Dick followed at 257.20 and Maria Kurjo of Germany was third at 250.63. The top-three from each of the two semis advance to Sunday’s final. Amy Magana of the U.S. won the other heat with 307.20.
On men’s three-metre, Cédric Fofana of Quebec City and Thomas Ciprik of Baie-d’Urfée, QC, were 20th and 25th in the prelims.
Competition continues through to Sunday.
