Team Alberta wows on Day 2
Junior Development National Championships
Montréal, July 17, 2026 – Team Alberta divers won both of the women’s titles up for grabs at the Junior Development National Diving Championships on Friday in Regina. Emmalyn Forresttook the gold in the Girls’ D 3-meter event, while Adele Taylor grabbed the top spot on the podium in the did the Girls’ C platform event. British Columbia’s Philippe Wadsworthfinished first in the Boys’ C 1-meter event.
Edmonton’s Forrest (Sport For Every Child) dominated the Girls’ D 3-meter final with 227.05 points, and led the competition after each of her six dives.
“I tried to do my best on every dive; everything went well, and I’m really, really proud!” enthused the 10-year-old gold medalist, adding that she was surprised to have done so well. “I wanted a medal and to beat my personal best, but things hadn’t gone well in the preliminary round, so I wanted to do better in the final,” added the young athlete, who surpassed her previous personal best by over 18 points.
This is Forrest’s second medal in Regina, where on Thursday she won bronze in the platform event. Her next event will be Sunday’s 1-meter event.
Renatha Chavez (Regina, 209.30) and Emma Adams (Windsor, 198.50) tied for second place, given that Chavez has not yet officially obtained her Canadian citizenship. British Columbian Annia Kyjonka (South Surrey/White Rock, 197.55) rounded out the podium with her bronze medal win.
In the Girls’ C platform final, yet another Albertan diver took the win. Adele Taylor (Edmonton Kinsmen Diving Club) also led from start to finish in her platform final, scoring 314.55 points.

“I’m so happy! I dove well in the preliminaries and was confident things would go well in the final. My third dive went well, and it was much better in the final than in the preliminaries,” remarked the gold medalist about the dive that earned her the highest score, thereby securing her spot on the top step of the podium.
In ninth place the day before in the 3-meter event, Taylor won three medals at last year’s competition—one gold and two silver.
Officials once again handed out medals to Albertans, this time silvers to Margeret Jeon (Forest City, 302.55) and Blair Yan (iDive, 298.20); Jeon was ineligible for the national title for the same reason as Renatha Chavez. Québec’s Florence Comtois (CAMO, 290.85), took the bronze medal.
In the Boys’ Group C 1-meter event, Philippe Wadsworth (327.95) took first place, and was one of two members of the Kamloops Gymnastics Trampoline Centre to medal. His teammate Rykker Powell (289.70) took third place in the event, with Liam Fetto (CAMO, 299.85) finishing between them.
“I didn’t have high expectations and just wanted to dive well. today There were some dives where I could have done better, but overall, it was a good day,” noted Wadsworth, adding that he was proud to see his teammate join him on the podium.
More diving action takes place Saturday at the Lawson Aquatic Centre – stay tuned!
