Three Canadians reach finals at FINA diving Grand Prix
GOLD COAST, Australia – Victor Povzner of Maple, Ont., Henry McKay of Ottawa and Mia Vallée of Beaconsfield, Que., all advanced to finals on Friday at the season’s final stop on the FINA Grand Prix circuit in diving.
On men’s three-metre, Povzner took second in his semifinal heat with 380.05 points behind David Boudia of the U.S. first at 474.85. In the other semi, Luxian Wu of China was first at 418.80, Kevin Chavez of Australia second at 393.90 and McKay third at 371.10.
The top-three in each of the two semis advance to the final. Joshua Inglis of London, Ont., was fifth in the first semi and he’ll place 10th overall.
On women’s three-metre, Vallée was second in her semi heat with 258.45. Alysha Koloi of Australia was first at 271.55. Xiaohui Huang of China topped the other semi at 302.25.
Both three-metre finals are on Saturday as well the men’s three-metre synchro with McKay and Povzner scheduled to compete.
