Benjamin Tessier
Senior National Team About Benjamin Tessier
Benjamin Tessier developed his diving skills at Club l’Envol in Blainville, QC, but in 2021 he has switched to Club CAMO in Montreal to join several national team members under head coach, Stéphane Lapointe.
A student at the St-Gabriel sports program in Ste-Thérèse, Tessier trains on both the springboard and platform.
Tessier has already achieved some major goals in his young career. In 2019, he scored perfect 10’s on his reverse dive on the platform . He completed that competition with a golden sweep on all three boards in the 14-15 age group at the Speedo Elite Nationals.
He was the youngest team member at the 2015 Junior Pan Ams where he won bronze on three-metre in the 11 and under age group. At the same event in 2019, he took the silver medal on platform despite an injury. He also competed at the prestigious Dresden International, an annual meet in Germany for the world’s top junior divers.
Tessier started diving at age five when he went on vacation in Mexico. There he and his family amused themselves jumping off cliffs. He loved it so much that his family enquired about diving lessons for him. He also played hockey and baseball as a youth.
However now his focus is on diving. He loves the adrenaline rush of diving especially the twisting and turning the air.
His dream is to one day go to the Olympic Games and the next step for him is to get on the senior circuit and compete in Grand Prix events.
