Once a parent of a diver who did not wish to spend his days sweating in the stands, Stephane Lortie decided to sweat on a pool deck instead! He moved from, in his words, “trying to understand a sport from afar to digging in and discovering a fascinating universe”. He took a deep dive into our sport by becoming an official and devoting his time and energy into learning its ins and outs.
Stephane was recognized in 2019 with the John Dickinson award for his numerous contributions to the sport, most notably his work as President of L’envol Diving from 2009-2014. During his tenure the club moved to a new facility and grew from a membership of 30 to over 250 athletes.
Stephane’s background as a Sommelier, and in wine and spirits distribution management as well as Information Systems, is well used both on and off the pool deck. He joined the National roster in 2011 where he is known as being calm, steady, and analytical as he enters his scores when evaluating both the technical and artistic parts of the dive.
